Each year, ten students from the Asian University for Women are chosen as the Cherie Blair Fellows. These Cherie Blair Fellowships are awarded to outstanding students who have demonstrated superior academic ability and outstanding leadership skills. The following students were selected this year:

• Nawra Mehrin, Bangladesh
• Gangodawilage Dakshini Nimanthi, Sri Lanka
• Luthfun Nahar Pearly, Bangladesh
• Zahra Saifey, Afghanistan
• Rabia Salihi, Afghanistan
• Subashini Selvaraj, Sri Lanka
These students impressed the judges with their ideas on bringing positive changes to their community. Their ideas ranged from bringing education to the difficult lives of a migrant community to using advertising to change a community's perspective. They wrote vividly with experiences and descriptions that made the judges believe that such change was possible.
Cherie will be meeting the students when they are formally inducted on 8 December in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
