At the Lily Centre
"Anyone who is associated or knows Jospice can only admire the early determination of the founder and supporters to start such a worthy charity."
Last week Cherie visited Liverpool's Lily Centre in her capacity as Patron. The Lily Centre, which was set up by cancer survivors Peggy O'Brien and Winnie Keating, is a breast cancer support group where staff voluntarily provide a pleasant environment for both men and women to meet to gain emotional and physical support.
She then went on to visit Jospice, again as Patron, where she was taken on a tour of the new unit and the prayer room. She gave a short speech at the reception on Jospice's Golden Jubilee year, and spoke about the newly refurbished unit in St Francis House.
"Anyone who is associated or knows Jospice can only admire the early determination of the founder and supporters to start such a worthy charity. Many thousands of people have been supporters and associated with the charity over the last 50 years. I am proud to say I am one of them for a good number of those years." - Cherie Blair.
